About Fugro;

Fugro offers expert assistance throughout all phases of the design of a submarine cable to include desktop studies, site visits, route selection and route survey.

Fugro’s accurate desktop studies assist in cable route planning and are dedicated to selecting a preliminary route and highlighting areas of concerns.  The desktop study step is critical to achieve a cost-effective cable route, which accommodates existing use of the seabed, yet gives maximum protection from any external threat to the cable.  The desktop study provides the foundation for the second phase of system planning, the route survey.

Fugro’s global resources provide the optimum survey system in any location, for any water depth. Fugro’s dedicated survey vessels are equipped with a variety of swath bathymetry and seabed imagery systems. These include EM 122 for deep water and EM 710 for intermediate and shallow water depths, among other systems. The permanent fleet is deployed worldwide and complemented by vessels of opportunity mobilized with state of the art bathymetric and side scan sonar systems. In critical continental shelf regions, where cable burial is required for protection, Fugro provides near-bottom side scan sonar to delineate surface features and high resolution sub-bottom reflection profiling to characterize the structure under the seafloor.
